A new television series exploring the dangerous world of art forgery has premiered on TUBI, bringing together Orlando-based Studio Lot Inc. and Road 7 Films for a suspenseful drama inspired by true events. The series, titled “Spilled Paint,” follows a criminal mastermind who forces talented artists to create counterfeit masterpieces before eliminating them to protect his lucrative operation.
The show centers on Ramirez Ponce, portrayed by Brandon Gibson of “Lessons in Chemistry” and “Cobra Kai,” who controls an underground network of art forgery. His character orchestrates an elaborate scheme where gifted artists produce fake masterworks that are sold to wealthy, unsuspecting collectors. To maintain secrecy, these artists meet tragic ends—until one presumed-dead painter resurfaces, threatening to expose the entire criminal enterprise.
“We are incredibly proud to bring ‘SPILLED PAINT’ to our viewers,” says two-time Daytime Emmy nominated producer Beth Wheatley, who serves as executive producer. “This series not only offers intense drama and mystery but also provides a thought-provoking look into the lengths people will go for power and wealth. We believe it will captivate audiences from the first episode to the last.”
The cast includes Justine Renee from Lifetime Movie Network and ABC as Helena Natale, alongside Daytime Emmy nominated Anthony Montgomery of “General Hospital” and “Star Trek: Enterprise.” Jensen Atwood, known for “Noah’s Arc” and “Their Eyes Were Watching God,” joins Steven Rho from Paramount+’s “The Game” as Daniel Montrose in the ensemble.
Brandon Gibson and Jon Kohan crafted the intricate storyline that promises to deliver continuous suspense throughout the series. Set in Miami, the show combines striking visuals with deep character exploration, examining themes of ambition, power, betrayal, and survival. The narrative transforms into an intense pursuit as the surviving artist seeks justice, creating a compelling conflict between artistic integrity and criminal corruption.
The new series represents a significant production effort from the Florida-based studios, showcasing the region’s growing presence in television production. The thriller format allows the creative team to explore the high-stakes art world while maintaining the tension and mystery that drives viewership on streaming platforms.
As streaming services continue to expand their original content offerings, “Spilled Paint” enters a competitive market with its unique premise rooted in real-world criminal activities. The art forgery angle provides fresh territory for the crime drama genre, moving beyond traditional police procedurals to examine the intersection of creativity and criminality.
The series is now available for streaming on TUBI, where viewers can access all episodes. Additional content including trailers, cast interviews, and episode guides can be found through the show’s official channels and social media platforms on Facebook and Instagram.
