When Deondra S. Parks lost her mother, watched her company close, and faced financial collapse all within a compressed window of time, the faith-based roadmap she’d relied on for decades suddenly stopped working. The moment forced a question that would eventually become the title of her book: who says you can’t—and more importantly, when?
Parks didn’t write her way out of the valley with platitudes. Instead, she documented the messy middle—the space between collapse and clarity where most transformation actually happens. The result is Who Says You Can’t When, a paper back and audiobook that refuses to promise quick fixes and instead offers what Parks calls “wisdom for those who have done everything right and still watched doors close.”
Three Decades of Building, Then Rebuilding
With over 30 years of leadership experience spanning administration, workforce development, and business operations, Parks had built multiple purpose-driven initiatives including The HUG Foundation, Ready For Change Employment Solutions, and the D-Bridge marketplace platform. But experience didn’t exempt her from what she now describes as an initiation rather than a failure.
“The real win is not the arrival. It is the becoming,” Parks writes. That philosophy runs through her body of work, which includes the books When the Lights Came On and co-authorship of HUSH, Volume 1. Each project dismantles what she calls “transactional faith”—the belief that following the rules guarantees specific outcomes on a predictable timeline.
From Author to Amplified Voice
Parks is currently part of the Les Brown Hungry To Speak Cohort, undergoing elite speaker training designed to refine her message for global audiences. The development program represents her shift from writing about transformation to activating it in real time through speaking engagements and her signature Power Table framework—a structure that moves participants from observation to authority to intentional creation.

Her target audience isn’t looking for inspiration porn. They’re people in their own valleys: questioning their timing, their calling, or whether they’ve somehow fallen behind. Parks speaks directly to that doubt. “If you are still here… still building… still discovering who you are in the silence, you are not behind. You are under construction,” she writes.
The authenticity has resonated. Parks appeared on Yaya Diamonds Dream Chasers Radio to discuss her work, and she’s building a YouTube and Spotify presence through her channel “The Power Table- Where The Limitless Sit”, where she continues to develop transformation strategies and storytelling frameworks without reserve.
Parks describes her mission as igniting awareness and activating purpose—not through avoidance of difficulty, but through full engagement with it. Her work suggests that the valley isn’t where purpose goes to die. It’s where it gets reconstructed into something that can actually bear weight.
