NewSmile is positioning itself as a budget-friendly alternative to conventional braces and Invisalign, providing at-home clear aligner treatment at significantly lower costs while maintaining professional dental oversight.
Founded by CEO Grant Li based on his personal experience with teeth alignment issues, NewSmile was created to make confident smiles accessible without the expense and inconvenience of traditional orthodontic approaches. “NewSmile was founded on a straightforward yet powerful belief: everyone deserves a confident smile—without the high cost and hassle of traditional braces,” Li explains.
The company’s treatment process begins with a home impression kit that customers complete and return using a prepaid shipping label. NewSmile then creates a 3D treatment preview for customer approval before manufacturing and shipping custom aligners directly to the customer’s home. Throughout the process, licensed dental professionals supervise the treatment remotely.
Treatment options include Fast Track aligners worn 22 hours daily or Night Aligners worn for 10 hours, primarily during sleep. The total treatment duration typically ranges from 4-10 months, substantially shorter than traditional orthodontic timelines that often extend to 18 months or more for comparable cases.
Pricing reflects NewSmile’s focus on affordability, with Fast Track aligners starting at $1,495 (currently discounted by $100) and Night Aligners at $1,595 (similarly discounted). Monthly payment plans are available starting at $55. By comparison, traditional braces typically cost $5,000 or more, while Invisalign can reach $7,500 depending on individual circumstances.
The company maintains multiple customer support channels, including email, chat, and phone service on weekdays. Mystery shopper inquiries revealed responsive service across all platforms, with representatives thoroughly addressing questions within minutes for phone and chat, and within 30 minutes for email inquiries.
Beyond aligners, NewSmile offers complementary products including retainers (recommended for replacement every six months), night guards, cleaning supplies, and oral health accessories. The company also provides documentation for insurance reimbursement, though it doesn’t directly bill insurance providers.
While NewSmile lacks in-person office visits and faces potential delivery delays of up to two months from impression to aligners, its combination of affordability, convenience, and professional oversight represents a significant evolution in orthodontic treatment accessibility.
